So how is fiesta celebrated the Boholano way? Generally, anybody who comes to visit a home (even if you don't know the owner nor are you invited), one gets to eat. Food on the table is free for everybody for the whole duration of the fiesta.... usually from 1 to 3 days. Hmmm, I find it fit to write another blog regarding this. Perhaps sometime not known yet to me :-).
And Hey! Would you believe that Bohol will have a town/barrio celebrating fiesta for each day of the month of May? Assuming that this is true, which it is, this will bring in thousands of visitors and homecoming boholanos. This may be the basis on the myth that the Bohol island sinks for around an inch or so during this season. Please don't get alarmed, as I have said, it is a myth. On the bright side, this is a good reason to believe that business in Bohol is good at this time of the year. Just think of the number of households celebrating, the number of visitors to feed, the number of instances of group tour, number of passengers for every trip going to Bohol by Land, air or sea, the number of souvenirs and delicacies bought, hotels and pension houses full of guests, etc. Too bad I am not a business woman, tsk tsk tsk tsk!
I may not have been favored monetarily on this occasion but I am happy what this celebration has brought to us.... friendship, family bonding, the chance to share what we have, and a reminder for each household to do general cleaning of the house and its surroundings!
Happy fiesta to all Boholanos! and Welcome home visiting Sanos, Sanas and friends!
